Israeli PM orders military to immediately carry out attacks in Gaza

JERUSALEM (Reuters) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the military to immediately carry out “powerful” strikes on Gaza, his office said on Tuesday.

The order came after Israel said that a coffin handed over by Hamas on Monday did not contain the body of another deceased hostage.

Israel accused Hamas of a “clear violation” of the two-week-old Gaza ceasefire deal.

In response, Hamas said Israel was seeking “to fabricate false pretexts in preparation for taking new aggressive steps” in Gaza.
